LIBTA President's Message

September President's Message 2017-2018

It's that time of year again. It's time for classes, homework and networking. School is starting, and students are piling into the classroom. It was a great summer, but for many of Long Island's teens, this school year may prove to be just as good. It will be a time of high stress, but also high enjoyment. This year will bring crucial moments where we as educators will solidify the bonds we have created with our students and colleagues. Even though our students should be our top priority, maintaining relationship with those business educators that we share our journey with also proves to be crucial.

Networking is key, you need to get involved with local and state organizations and continuously seek staff development opportunities because you never know where and when something big will be presented. "The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives"-Robert John Meehan, Author. Business education especially is about being current and making connections that will make you and your classroom stand out.

This year, remember the importance of your role. In addition to being there for your students they are also looking for you to provide strong instruction and life connections. Life is a game of networks, and Long Island Business Teachers Association certainly is an organization to be part of.

American Philosopher William James states it best, "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." Become an active member of Long Island Business Teachers Association, the positives are unmeasurable!

All the best for the start to a terrific, fulfilling year!

Sincerely,
