Updates on Personal Finance Education in NYS
At the November 2025 Board of Regents meeting, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) proposed the amendment of section 100.2(c) of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education to require instruction in climate education and personal finance education for public school students in grades kindergarten through 12. Information regarding the proposed amendment, including a field memorandum and frequently asked questions, can be found on NYSED’s Personal Finance Education and Climate Education webpages.
Written comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted for 60-days after its publication in the New York State Register on November 19, 2025 (must be received by January 19, 2026) and can be submitted to
